entrance
high pasture cave

in the land of giants

i rose upon their shoulders

and became taller than the tide

waist-deep in snow

i followed the rivers’ pull

i crossed the mountain’s spine

with a giant

i took the wild salmon from the dark

i learned the hunger of water

he stilled me—

and i became the watcher

gathering wind

holding the moment before it broke

with another giant

i bent the bow

i drew the arrow

i carried my child close to my chest

i moved in sequence—

step after step

breath after breath

until i became the doing

i stood alone

and became endurance

i asked

and became the seeking

i made

and became the hand

another giant called for porridge

and i became the giver at the fire

i held the bowl

i shared the warmth

i heard the laughter rise

and i became the joy within it
